Can Lupus Disease Be Helped With Water?

Some of the most recent studies on Lupus disease has uncovered a correlation between Lupus and lack of water.  Lupus is now considered to be another label attached to a number of occurring complications of chronic unintentional dehydration.

The human brain itself is 85% water and is extremely sensitive to dehydration.  The body possesses water rationing programs when it is in drought.  The main drought management programs of the body that have been labeled as diseases are…

  • Asthma and allergies
  • Old-age diabetes
  • Colitis pain
  • Hypertension
  • Autoimmune diseases including lupus.

These major health problems are produced by persistent water shortages of the human body.  The simple act of not drinking enough water on a regular basis, or of ignorantly substituting manufactured beverages that do more harm than good in place of the water that the body should receive.

A large number of these concurrently occurring symptoms of the body’s attempt to run emergency drought management programs have been lumped together and labeled as the autoimmune disease lupus, implying an auto-allergy of the body to its own tissues.  Next to oxygen water is the single most essential substance for the survival of the body, also recognizing that a dry mouth is not the sole indicator of water deficiency of the body.

The loaded question is “can water cure lupus?”.  Is it possible that lupus is a collection of complex conditions produced by dehydration?

Up until now the conventional  view of lupus is that the body’s immune system, for no good reason at all, goes awry and attacks the body’s own tissues.

However, what is becoming clear now is that the human body has very sound physiologically-based reasons for doing what it does, including the manifestation of various symptoms that have been categorized as lupus symptoms.

Lupus has until now been classified as a disease of unknown etiology, meaning that there are no known causes or reasons for it’s existence.  This chronic disease can involve several organ systems and affects between 1.4 and 2 million Americans with a ratio of women to men being affected at around 9:1.

The label of lupus by itself can shorten the patient’s life due to fear of the disease.  The reason for this is that the anxiety, fear and the resulting emotional stress bring about a pattern of hormonal and chemical secretions that put the body on the pathway of lowered resistance and increased susceptibility to infections and disease.

Due to the fact that the brain is compiled mostly of water, any dehydration of the brain cells causes them the silent anxiety of drying up.  It is most stressful to the body.  The brain desperately needs adequate supplies of water to energize its delicate functions.  If the brain cells are well hydrated, the feedback mechanisms are efficient, whereas if the brain cells are dehydrated, the feedback mechanisms is ineffective.  The outcome of one form of this type of crisis management of a stressed/dehydrated body is that it resorts to a form of “cannibalism” of its own tissues and results in the unpleasant and painful symptoms of lupus.

Thus, water is a vital “medicine” in the treatment of lupus.

The first step in a treatment program involves a clear and determined upward adjustment of daily water intake.  A change of lifestyle becomes critical for the correction of any dehydration-produced disorder.  The backbone of the water cure program is, simply, sufficient  water and salt intake; a balanced diet; exclusion of caffeine and alcohol; exclusion of artificial sweeteners.

Water prevents “cannibalistic” attacks on the tissues of the body itself and promotes a more “constructive” metabolism in the body – an ideal 1st step in the treatment of lupus.

This an easy and gentle treatment for lupus instead of the traditional invasive methods.

If you have lupus you need to make sure that your body gets an absolute minimum  of at least six to eight 8-oz glasses of water a day.  Alcohol, coffee, tea, and caffeine-containing beverages do not count as water.  For the sake of not short-changing your body, 2 more glasses of water should be taken around the heaviest meal or before going to bed.

According to Dr. Batmanghelidj, the internationally renowned researcher and leading physician on clinical and scientific research into the role of water in the body, there is a recommended amount of salt that needs to be taken along with the increased amount of water consumed in a day.  He recommends 3g of salt (half a teaspoon) for every 10 glasses of water consumed. You should spread this salt out throughout the day and if you exercise and seat, then you need a little more salt. It is very important that you do not overdo salt.

You MUST observe the ratio of salt and water needs of the body.  If you have any qualms about including this amount of salt into your diet, then please consult your doctor before making any changes to your diet.

To find out all the details regarding salt and the benefits of it, you can read Dr. Batmanghelidj’s book, “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water” .  His slogan is that “You’re Not Sick: You’re Thirsty – Don’t Treat Thirst With Medication”.  There you will find out that there is more natural magic in a glass of water than any medications you are given for the treatment of lupus!
